Today, we had our first Toronto Labs Toastmaster "debate meeting"
For those who dont know, Toastmaster is a group where people meet once weekly and around 3 speakers give a speech , people evaluate them and give feedback. I have already delivered 3 speeches during the previous meetings.
So for the first time we had a debate meeting . The topic of the debate was:
"An individual who surrenders a pet should be banned from future pet ownership."
I know, not a very natural topic for debate. But during the debate every one was very excited... death stares to voice modulations, calling the opponents as the diluted ones or pointing fingers ..... ;it was one heated and lively discussion with some great points form both sides and taken in a healthy spirit.
I was the captain of the negative side! Sean Kennedy from the negative team got the vote for the best debater and the negative side were also voted as winners ! Yay !!
P.S:
My mom always told me that "you argue too much" . Look Mom, arguing isnt that bad :)
Oh indeed! Arguing isnt all that bad. especially, if it could fetch you an award.. Thanks for letting us know about Toastmaster. It surely made for an interesting read. Cheers!
