Christmas - NewYear ... Day 3 [ LOST!! ]

The trip is turning is getting interesting. Today we went to check out Arches National Park. Its a nice place with rocky mountains. If you do not have a camera, there is nothing else to do in the dessert !!

After checking out few spots like the balancing rock, we hiked to a place called Delicate Arch in the national park. After waiting there close to sunset to see the snow clad peaks turn red, though that did not happen because of the clouds, we started ascending down.

As it turned darker, we soon started realizing that we were lost. Neither we had any lights not our cell phones had any coverage, even 911 was not reachable. Eventually we reached a point where it was completely dark and we were in a middle of rocky mountains and jungle. There was no way we could have found the trail in the dark. At one point of time we saw a small light in the far horizon and that indicated that there is life around !

Let me go ahead and try to find way , keep following and maintain visual contact and eventually when it got dark ..maintain voice contact .
Guys we have 2 choices, either let the night pass and wait for sunlight at some safe place or, keep walking towards the light even if its late and somehow hit atleast a tar road or a highway.

It was scary, because walking in dark was difficult with big plants and rocks around and also a possible stream and small valley !!. Plus the national park could have wild animals, not to mention that it had snowed profusely the last day so staying out was risky as well !!

However that it turned out that it was a good thing that we followed our guts and kept walking to the light. It turned out it was a headlight of a parked car where we also had our car parked. The ecstatic feeling of not being lost cannot be written in words !!.

P.S:

Now that I look back , getting lost is possibly the best and most memorable thing that happened today. So in case you guys also want to know how to get lost in scary places... call me :)
