Today was an interesting day. I was woken up by a friend with the news that Sachin scored his 50th test century !!. This year has been particularly successful for the master with 2 big jewels 200 runs in ODI and now the 50th century !!
Then came the news that my parents finalized our new house in India. We were planning to move from our current house to a different one and the search finally ended !!. To top over that it was bright and sunny outside in Seattle !!
So I made up a plan with a friend to do what I do the best. Go eat at a nice Indian restaurant :).
Just before I was to leave, the dreaded pager started beeping. There were some issues that needed to be resolved urgently!!. So I spent rest of 6 hours on the sofa without any food [and def no Indian food :( ] to work on the issue . Finally things got resolved. Interestingly bunch of thank you and appreciation mails started flowing up and the mgr in charge thanked personally for the help. Funny part is I was on-call this week so it was anyways my responsibility to work on the issue. That made me realize that that the pager puts you in spot but also brings opportunity to solve a problem. I felt like a day well spent on doing my work sincerely and for the better.
I believe if you can do that over and over and over again ..everyday .. for the next 37 years ..then you can probably be as good in your work as Sachin was when he played his first match !!. Hail THE MASTER !
