For those who do not know , Ganesh chaturthi is a 10 day long festival in India. Personally I am a big fan of those festivals which have more social activities [holi, diwali, navratri, janmasthami etc] than the others [nagpanchami, gudipadwa] etc which just have some mythological stories and nothing to do !
Though I am not a strong theist neither aesthic, I would say Ganesha [lord of knowledge] is my favourite God :). The festival brings with it lot of social activities, dramas, dance, decoration etc and I miss that a lot :(. Just as a symbol of respect I do not eat non-veg during these 10 days :)
The festival has a tradition of installing the Ganesha idol in your house for 10 days. I did that last year in Canada !!. I was unable to do that this year because I lost the photo frame somewhere and also because I am still getting setup in my new apt.
