Okay .. I loved this product when I saw this add on TV [LINK]
Actually these types of adds are so good .. you feel like cutting things, or spilling water and trying to wipe it by some "great wiper".. lol !!
Since I started cooking, the part that I hate the most is cutting onions. While getting my grocery for my new home, I came across the "slap chop" and got it with a warning to the cashier:
"I do not trust this thing, if I don like it you are going to take it back !! "
Here are the tests I did while cooking rajma [red kidney beans] :

Onion Test:As you can see in the picture, it leaves big pieces on the side, but you can do them again;. However, it takes some juice out of them so its not ideal for salad but okay for cooking . So 7/10 just because it cuts onion ...my enemy :P

Garlic/Ginger: Excellent. cuts easily as you want. As you see you do not need to peel the skin , it comes out ! [9/10]
Coriander/Cilantro: Not so well. It doesn't do it properly because the leaves are soft. [5/10]

Tomato: Yakk .. it wasted my tomato :| [2/10]
Overall, I think I will keep the product. In general it is good for stuff that is hard and crisp to cut than the softer ones like tomato , corainder .
P.S: No I am not endorsing the product OR starting a cookery show/blog :P

Yeah.. the tomato does look pathetic. I prefer cutting cilantro with scissors :-D
ReplyDeleteBut venturesome indeed! Cheers!
this is just like tele-brands marketing ki ads... with demo of slap chop... and finally saying... mere kehne pe mat jao...khud istemaal karo aur fark dekho :P

ReplyDelete@pooja: yeah .. they call it a "review" here :P
